TASKS/ACTIVITIES
The role of the Radio Operator is to:

Provide reliable communications between the FPSO and:

Other vessels / FPSO

Helicopter traffic

Monitor/record the Marine Restricted Area vessel’s entry, in cooperation with the Traffic Controller Offshore.

Monitor/record the vessel’s traffic within the FPSO MRA under the supervision of the RSES/Marine Operation Superintendant.

Assist the Logistic Supervisor with general clerical work such as, but not limited to: daily reports, etc…
The Radio Operator works under the supervision of the Logistic Supervisor, and reports directly to him.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

He performs all radio communications and maintains continuous proper look-out by hearing, using GMDSS equipment

Maintain continuous vessel traffic and ISPS watch using RADAR, AIS and SIGNALIS systems.

He reports any intrusion in the MRA to Marine Operation Superintendent

He makes sure all fishing vessels are properly chased out of the MRA by all means available at his disposal (Tug, IFCB, Security vessel).

He maintains close coordination with IFCB captains and performs radio communication hourly checks.

He takes on a support role in emergency situations: emergency radio communications and communication log keeping.

He monitors the weather and sea conditions and informs the Marine Operation Superintendant of any changes which may impact the marine and aeronautical operations.

He maintains records:
Radio communications.
MRA and 500m zone vessel’s entries.
Marine and aeronautic activities.
ISPS events.

He ensures that a Stand-by vessel is permanently assigned to the FPSO (in accordance with per Company Rules requirements), and more especially during helicopter operations.

He notifies the Logistic Supervisor of the breakdowns, anomalies and faults of the equipment.

He carries out GMDSS station tests according to SOLAS requirements.

He acts as a Boatlanding officer during night shift

He sends weather reports to Helico operations control room on behalf of sites designated to receive helicopter.
